Designing Personal Learning Environment
One can describe the current educational system as a “Learning Highway”.
Everyone heads pretty much in the same direction at the same speed and is evaluated using the same one-size-fits-all assessments.
Naturally, in a system like this, there is very little room to accommodate individual learning needs.
A Personal Learning Environment (PLE) is a technology tool, which lets individual learners find the learning path, tools and human resources at the right time. Imagine a “LearnBook” or a “LearnedIn”.
What exactly such a PLE does and what affordances it has is an evolving question, thus, there is huge potential for designers to get busy.
